2025 was our very first year in business, and thanks to you, it was nothing short of incredible!
We opened our doors just six months ago and somehow managed to create a whole vibe, a whole community, and a whole lot of good memories on Clifford Avenue. So here it is: Cannabis Corner Wrapped 2025, our informal, heartfelt, very Cannabissy recap of the year.

Shocking to absolutely no one: flower dominated the year! Rochester loves a good nug, and 2025 proved it. Customers were exploring new strains and terpene profiles, and our bud bar was poppin’!

Basically, Rochester wanted to unwind, then rise up, then vibe, nap, and get things done. A beautifully balanced emotional arc. The advancement of cannabis products in the legal market provides for balanced and targeting effects, a pathway for people who are new to cannabis to find their groove, and experienced folks to enhance it. We love to see it.

We could not have launched, grown, and crushed our first year without this team. They’re the backbone and the heartbeat of Cannabis Corner. Every day they show up with passion, personality, and professionalism to give Rochester the cannabis experience it deserves.

September — Julz (Inventory Manager & Spreadsheet Wizard)
Julz runs the order fulfillment room like a scientist, living in the spreadsheets, a cool + calm agent against chaos, building SOPs for fun! Julz’ attention to detail, matched by her passion for cannabis, including compliance to lobbying, is the real deal.
October — Ryan (Budtender & Customer Experience Legend)
Ryan is a rock star (like actually), and coincidentally, people describe him as resembling Jerry Garcia (but I don’t see it). He creates the vibe. Customers love him. Staff loves him. Neighborhood dogs love him. He lights up the room, supports the team, and brings pure heart to Cannabis Corner every shift!
November — Kate (Budtender, Home Grower & All-Around Rockstar)
Kate is fun, sharp, and creative, and the kind of coworker you wish you could clone! She’s a passionate home grower, a lover of all things cannabis and cool, and is always the first one to jump in and help wherever needed. Great energy. Great knowledge. Great teammate. And probably printing a cool 3D knickknack or building an epic art project as we speak!

Laboratories adopted updated contaminant thresholds and terpene reporting requirements, pushing the market toward greater product consistency. Consumers now get more transparent potency and terpene information across categories.
Adult-Use Licensing Expansion Continues
More retail, cultivation, and processing licenses were released as the OCM worked through the backlog, improving supply, stabilizing pricing, and opening more opportunities for equity applicants and small businesses.

2025 saw increased enforcement actions, seizures, and closures of unlicensed operators across the state, leveling the playing field for legal dispensaries and improving consumer trust in safe, regulated products.

Cannabis sales surpassed over $1 billion+ demonstrating demand and market scale. According to state reports, by mid-2025 New York had collected over $160 million in cannabis tax revenue for the fiscal year — a four-fold increase from the prior year. That revenue helps fund education, community reinvestment, and social-equity programs across the state.
